Carlsbad Educational Foundation gala raises $300,000 for student programs

Since its debut in the Gala has raised more than million funding over programs that serve more than TK students Photography courtesy of Samuel Freeman Photography The Carlsbad Educational Foundation reported that its annual Gala to Benefit Students held May at Omni La Costa Resort Spa raised to assistance programs throughout the Carlsbad Unified School District Nearly attendees gathered for an evening focused on tuition and area impact One of the evening s focal points was the premiere of Scroll or Swim a short documentary exploring the effects of digital addiction on students The film highlights how hands-on learning including STEAM tuition and outdoor experiences is helping students re-engage with the world around them through projects such as building moon landers and participating in marine life tagging The event included an outdoor reception dinner and live and silent auctions followed by a performance from The Mighty Untouchables Since its debut in the Gala has raised more than million funding over programs that serve more than TK students These include music instruction at the elementary level STEAM and outdoor learning and career readiness initiatives This year also marked the launch of CEF s Secondary Lecturer Grant Undertaking which awarded over to backing hands-on innovative teaching at the middle and high school levels CEF CEO Laura Pitts addressed the audience emphasizing the Foundation s mission Our students deserve more than the minimum they deserve experiences that spark curiosity fuel passion and unlock their probable CEF acknowledged the endorsement of presenting sponsor Gafcon and thanked all contributors contributors and guests The next Gala to Benefit Students is scheduled for Saturday March at Omni La Costa Resort Spa
